The idea for an ultra light motor for mountain bikes came to DI Reinhold Gruber, from Igls in Tyrol, back in 2004. As an enthusiastic sportsman and mountain biker, he set about developed the first model for the GRUBER motor, based on this initial idea. In 2005, DI Reinhold Gruber and Ing. Ilian Mintscheff, an engineer involved in the development, participated in the AdventureX Business Plan Competition, organised by the Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung (Tyrolean Foundation for the Future). The preliminary work carried out was rewarded by them winning the competition.
Motivated by this success and supported by two investors, the company Gruber Antrieb GmbH & Co KG was finally established in March 2006. The success story is still short and the business still young, however having been boosted by a further victory – winning the 14th Brand New Award from ISPO Munich and the Eurobike Award Bronze 07 – we are positive about the future!
